Break the Rules: Non-Traditional Wedding Photography Ideas
March 8, 2023

You may think wedding photos are for formal gowns, traditional poses, and serene locations, but it doesn’t always have to! It’s your special day, and you can just have fun instead of following the conventional route.

There are plenty of non-traditional wedding photography ideas that can make your special day unique and memorable. From goofy props and unconventional poses to offbeat locations and artistic shots, these ideas will ensure you have wedding photos that are unlike anyone else’s.

Below are some ideas you should keep in mind when hiring a wedding photography service in Edmonton for your non-traditional wedding shoot:

Goofy Props

One way to ensure you have unique wedding photos is to incorporate some silly props. From giant glasses to funny costumes, these props not only add a humorous element to your photos but also help break the ice.

If you want to take things up a notch, you can organise a photo booth at reception with fun props for your guests.

Unconventional Poses

If you want to capture some truly unique wedding photos, then it’s time to think outside the box when it comes to posing.

Sure, traditional poses such as the iconic dip or facing the camera while holding hands look nice. But why not think of some creative poses that will make people stop and take notice? From bright backflips to sweet hugs and playful tumbles, use your imagination so your Edmonton photographer can take some truly special pictures.

Offbeat Locations

Though traditional wedding settings are beautiful, switching up the scenery is always nice. If you’re looking for a unique backdrop for your wedding photos, why not head outdoors?

From a wooded glen to a beachfront shoreline or even a city skyline, there are plenty of options for offbeat locations. Or, if you’re feeling really adventurous, you can ditch the classic setting altogether and take your shoot to an unconventional spot, such as an abandoned building, an art gallery, or on the road.

Artistic Shots

Have you ever thought of adding an artistic spin to the classic wedding portrait? Ask your Edmonton photographer to take some creative shots that combine elements of fine art with traditional wedding photography.

From shooting through gauze or mesh to compositing multiple images to create a beautiful montage, your photographer can surely come up with something truly special.

Unique Angles

Capturing images from unusual angles is a great way to make your wedding photos stand out. Have your photographer capture shots from the ground, above, or even behind you and your spouse. These creative perspectives make for unique shots that will show off your day in an entirely new light.

Spontaneous Moments

A non-traditional wedding shoot is your chance to get spontaneous. During your special day, make sure your photographer is ready to capture the unexpected. Whether it’s a random hug or a silly song and dance, these little moments are priceless and help to bring your wedding photos to life.

Conclusion

With a few creative touches and unique ideas, couples can create wedding photos that are unlike anyone else’s. From goofy props to unconventional poses and offbeat locations, these non-traditional ideas will help ensure your wedding images stand out and reflect the joy and excitement of the day.

Securing a Professional Wedding Photographer — Part 2
March 1, 2023

Weddings tend to be the most important and cherished moments of a person’s life. Thus, they require to be captured in ways that truly capture their complete beauty, joy, and excitement. Hiring a professional wedding photographer can make all the difference between an unmemorable wedding photography experience and one that is full of special memories and art.

If you’re still not convinced, here are more reasons why hiring a wedding photographer is tenfold better than placing a digital camera in your cousin’s hands.

Why Hire a Professional Wedding Photographer?

The most obvious reason for hiring a professional wedding photographer is that these professionals know the art of capturing wedding memories. They come with the technical and creative know-how, skills, and resources to really make the most of your special day.

A professional wedding photographer has the relevant experience and knowledge to capture all the important moments of your day without fail. Also, they possess the skills to handle any potential issues that may arise on the wedding day.

Experience in the Field

This can only be done right when a professional wedding photographer with the right experience is doing the job. They have the ability to capture even the minute details and fleeting moments that truly immortalize the ceremony.

Though prices vary significantly based on the photographer, investing in a professional wedding photographer ensures ultimate quality. Professional photographers come with the right tools and expertise to capture stunningly beautiful photos in high-definition quality.

The images are vibrant and full of life, reflecting the true emotion of your special day. Professional photographers also know how to make use of lights, angles, lenses, and other features to create the perfect effects for your wedding photos.

Perfect Editing

Though some hire amateur photographers for the sake of saving money, this usually comes at the expense of quality and editing. Professional photographers will come with the skills to edit and polish your photos so that they turn out stunningly beautiful with perfect colors and contrasts.

Without a doubt, most photographers charge more for these added services, but the results are definitely worth it.

Lasting Memories

Most importantly, a professional wedding photographer can make sure that your precious memories last a lifetime. Hiring a professional photographer gives you not only beautiful lasting memories of your wedding day but also a piece of art that can be treasured forever.

Conclusion

Having a professional wedding photographer preserve the special moments of your wedding allows you to keep these memories alive through stunning professional photos. These photos become an everlasting tangible keepsake of the day, allowing you to relive the emotion and joy that your special day was filled with every time you look at them.

Furthermore, the quality of photos taken by a wedding photographer is incomparable to those taken by an amateur photographer. Hiring their professional service should not be seen as a cost but rather an investment.

This investment gives you amazing photos, as well as the assurance that your most important memories will never be forgotten. With a professional wedding photographer, you can be sure that your special day will be preserved in stunning quality for years to come.

Causes of Slow Wedding Photography and How to Speed It Up
February 9, 2023

Wedding photos are some of the most important and cherished memories of a couple’s special day. However, sometimes the process of taking wedding photos can take longer than expected. There are a few common reasons why wedding photos can take forever to take. Fortunately, there are also things you can do to ensure they’re on schedule and done within a reasonable time frame.

Causes of a Slow Wedding Photography Process

1. Poor Planning

Poor planning can be one of the main reasons for wedding photos taking forever. If the photographer and the couple do not plan ahead of time, it can lead to delays. This can include the wedding party not being ready on time or the photographer not having enough time to take the necessary shots.

2. Size of the Wedding Party

If the wedding party is large, it can take longer to take photos. This is because there will be more people to coordinate, and the photographer will need to take more time to get everyone in the right position for the photo.

3. Weather Conditions

Weather conditions can also play a role in how long it takes to take wedding photos. If the weather is not ideal, the photographer may need to adjust their plans accordingly to ensure the photos turn out well.

4. Lighting

The lighting of the location where the photos are being taken can also have an effect on how long it takes to take the photos. If the lighting is poor, the photographer may need to take more time to adjust the lighting to get the best results.

5. Equipment

If the photographer is using outdated equipment, it can also cause delays. This is because the equipment may be slower and may need to be adjusted more often.

How to Ensure Wedding Photos Are Done on Time

1. Choose a Professional Photographer

Choosing a professional photographer is the most important step to ensure your wedding photos are done on time and quickly. Look for a photographer with a great portfolio, experience in shooting weddings, and a good reputation.

2. Schedule the Photo Shoot

Once you have chosen a photographer, work with them to schedule the photo shoot. Make sure to plan enough time for the photographer to capture all of the important moments of your big day, as well as for any special requests you may have.

3. Create a Shot List

Creating a shot list is an essential part of planning for your wedding photos. Talk to your photographer about the types of photos you would like to have taken and list them out so that the photographer knows what to expect.

4. Set a Deadline

Setting a deadline for your wedding photos is a great way to ensure they are done on time and quickly. Talk to your photographer about the timeline of your wedding and decide on a date by which you would like to receive the finished photos.

5. Make a Backup Plan

It’s always a good idea to make a backup plan in case something goes wrong. Have a backup photographer on standby in case your primary photographer is unable to make it, or plan for a backup venue in case of inclement weather.

Conclusion

Overall, there are a few common reasons why wedding photos can take forever to take. It is important to ensure that proper planning is done ahead of time and that the right equipment and lighting are used for the best results. With proper planning and the right equipment, the process of taking wedding photos can be much more efficient.

Before You Say "I Do": What to Look for in a Wedding Photographer
February 2, 2023

Tying the knot with the love of your life is truly a milestone worth celebrating, and as a bride, it’s only right to take your time in planning to make your dream wedding a reality. So before rushing to the altar, take a step back and explore all the crucial elements needed to make your special day the best it can be.

In the search for the perfect wedding gown, shoes, venue, and everything in between, don’t forget to give as much importance to your wedding photographer. After all, your wedding is a fleeting moment that anyone would love to look back to, and the right wedding photographer can capture all the unique memories that made your wedding day so special.

With so many options to choose from, though, it can be overwhelming to determine which photographer is the best fit for your big day. So before you say “I do” to your prospective list of photographers, here are some key characteristics to look for when selecting a photographer for your big day:

What Brides Need to Look For When Finding the Best Wedding Photographer

  1. Exceptional Communication Skills

When it comes to finding the perfect wedding photographer for your special day, communication is key. Not only do you need to make sure that your photographer can capture all of the magical moments of your wedding day, but you also need to make sure that they have the necessary communication skills to make you and your guests feel comfortable in front of the camera.

The photographer should be able to listen to your vision and understand what you want out of the photos, as well as provide you with feedback and advice on how to best capture the moments that are most important to you.

  1. Ability to Handle Situations When a Crisis Hits

Weddings are full of surprises, and you never know when something could go wrong. On that note, you want to make sure that your photographer knows how to handle any situation that comes their way—this could include anything from bad weather to a malfunctioning camera. Aim for a wedding photographer who can think on their feet and come up with a solution that will still allow for beautiful photos and a memorable experience.

  1. Has a Creative Eye and Can Capture the Ordinary with Artistry

Your wedding photos should be more than just a series of posed shots; they should be able to tell a story of your special day and capture the emotion and beauty of the moment. In that regard, a great wedding photographer can take seemingly ordinary moments and make them extraordinary.

They should be able to snap the wonder of the small details that make your wedding day unique. From the little touches like the decorations and the bridesmaids’ dresses to the big moments like the first kiss and the father-daughter dance, it’s important to find a photographer who can capture the love shared on your wedding day.

The Bottom Line: The Right Photographer is a Must-Have for Any Wedding

At the end of the day, you’ll want to choose a photographer who makes you feel comfortable and whose work you love. After all, your wedding photos will be something you’ll look back on for years to come, so you’ll want to make sure they’re perfect. So, don’t skimp on finding the right photographer—it’s a must-have for any wedding.

6 Tips to Get Beautiful Wedding Photos in Outdoor Locations
January 25, 2023

A wedding is one of the most memorable days in anyone’s life because it marks the beginning of a new chapter in a couple’s life. It is a day when two people in love come together to commit to each other and make a lifelong commitment of love, trust, and respect, and their closest family and friends will be witnesses. Naturally, photos will be captured to preserve the moment.

Wedding photos matter because they allow the couple to reminisce on the day and remember all the details, the emotions, and the people who shared on their special day. Conversely, they also allow the couple to share their wedding day with family and friends who could not be physically present. While taking photos is a straightforward task, the tricky part is taking them if the venue is held outdoors because of the dynamic nature of the environment.

To help you capture the best photos outdoors during your wedding, here are some helpful tips:

#1 – Consider the Time

An outdoor wedding is subject to the whims of nature, so you must consider the time of day when planning your wedding photos. For example, the best time for outdoor weddings is in the early morning or late afternoon to take advantage of the soft, golden light of the sun.

Alternatively, you can also hold a nighttime wedding. While capturing good photos in the dark is more challenging, there are ways to make it work. If you are planning a nighttime wedding, bring plenty of lighting equipment and use long exposure techniques to capture beautiful photos.

#2 – Consider the Weather

Weather can be unpredictable and can significantly impact the quality of your outdoor wedding photos. Before you plan your wedding, be sure to check the forecast and plan accordingly. If there’s a chance of rain, consider investing in a tent or canopy to protect your guests and wedding party.

#3 – Focus on the Subject

This is a given in photography, but wedding photos should always focus on the subject–the couple. Make sure to capture moments of the couple alone, as well as moments with family and friends. Consider getting creative with angles and poses to make your photos unique. Additionally, ensure to get various shots, including posed and candid images.

#4 – Include Small Details

A wedding is a special event; the small details can help tell the story of the day. These details can include the bride’s dress, the groom’s boutonniere, the wedding rings, the cake, the decorations, and so on. Close-up shots of these details will add a special touch to the photos, so capturing them is recommended.

#5 – Present the Venue Using Wide Shots

Outdoor weddings are held because of the beautiful scenery and landscapes, so ensure to capture the entire venue with wide shots. This will help the couple remember the beauty of their special day and the venue they chose. Additionally, wide shots can capture entire wedding parties in one shot.

For example, you can try capturing a wide shot of the couple standing together in front of a gorgeous backdrop, such as a mountain range. This will help showcase the venue’s beauty and the couple’s special day.

#6 – Use Foregrounds as Part of the Composition

The foreground is a crucial element of any image and can be used to create depth in a wedding photo. Foregrounds help draw the viewer’s eye towards the couple while adding interesting features to the composition.

For example, when photographing the couple at the altar, look for an interesting foreground element, such as a flower arrangement. This will add depth to the photo and help to make it more interesting. Additionally, look for interesting lines, shapes, and patterns in the foreground to add visual interest.

Conclusion

An outdoor wedding is one of the best ways to celebrate a wedding, so capturing the best photos must be done. Since it is a celebration of love and joy, the images must convey the couple’s emotions and work within the landscape. This way, the photos will hold meaningful memories that will last a lifetime.

How to Make a Wedding Photographer Work around Your Timeline
January 18, 2023

A wedding is one of the most memorable occasions in anyone’s life because it’s a celebration of the love between a couple that they share with their loved ones on their special day. For this reason, all marrying couples want their wedding days to be perfect. There are many ways to achieve this, but hiring a wedding photographer is one of the most practical.

A wedding photographer will capture the memories of your special day so you can look back on them for years to come. They will capture the emotion and beauty of the day as it unfolds, providing you with a visual record of the event. They will also be able to provide you with various styles of photography, from traditional to modern, so you can find the one that best suits your needs and tastes. However, the tricky part with working with a wedding photographer is making them fit into your schedule, which can be pretty tight. To help you manage this, we will guide you in this article.

Start with the Most Important Events

The most important events of your wedding are the ceremony, the reception, and the first dance. These are the times when you and your partner will be the center of attention and the moments when you will be most likely to be photographed. Ensure that your photographer will be present for each event and that they have time to capture all the details.

If possible, the photographer should also be present for the pre-ceremony preparations and the post-ceremony celebrations. During the preparations, they should be able to capture the anticipation and excitement of the day. Following the ceremony, they should be able to document the joy and happiness of the newlyweds and their guests.

Ensure You Have Enough Time

Ensure you give your photographer enough time to capture all the important events. A good rule of thumb is to allow one hour for pre-ceremony preparations and two hours for the ceremony and reception. This should give your photographer enough time to capture all the moments you want to remember.

Also, you should give your photographer enough time to take posed photos. If you’re having a large wedding, you should give your photographer enough time to take all the necessary photos of the wedding party, family, and friends. If you think you might lack time for photos, adding an extra 15 minutes to your timeline can make all the difference. This will give your photographer enough time to capture all moments without feeling rushed.

Plan for the Unexpected

Despite your best efforts, things rarely go as planned on the wedding day. If a specific event runs longer than expected, the photographer should be aware of the situation and be prepared to adjust the timeline accordingly. If a special moment arises that you want to capture, the photographer should be ready to jump in and capture it.

Considerations When Hiring a Wedding Photographer

Not all wedding photographers are the same, and few can perform to your standards. For this reason, you must consider certain factors when hiring a wedding photographer, such as:

Experience

Wedding photography is a specialized field, so you should hire someone who has experience in this area. Ask to see a portfolio of the photographer’s work, and ensure they have experience with the type of wedding photography you seek.

Style

Different photographers have different styles, and you should find a photographer whose style matches your vision for your wedding. Ask for examples of the photographer’s work, and determine whether it is the style you are looking for.

Equipment Used

Make sure the photographer has the right equipment to capture the photos you want. Ask what type of camera, lenses and lighting equipment they use and if they have any additional items that could be used for your wedding.

Cost

Above all else, you must get your money’s worth when hiring a wedding photographer. Ask what the package includes, such as the number of hours they will be shooting, the number of photos they will take, and the cost of any additional services. You should also know if any extra fees or taxes will be added to the package price.

Conclusion

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, so you must hire a wedding photographer who can capture the beauty and emotion of the day. It will take time to find the best photographer, but the effort will be worth it because you will get mesmerizing photos and memories that will last a lifetime. This way, you can look back on your wedding day with fondness and appreciation for the photographer who captured it all.

A Quick Guide to Taking Wedding Family Photos
January 11, 2023

Wedding photos are a wonderful way to capture the most special day of your life forever. Although professional wedding photographers can be expensive, taking family photos at your wedding is a great way to get beautiful memories without breaking the bank.

This complete guide outlines the essential steps you need to take to capture perfect family photos at your wedding. We’ll be discussing the importance of planning ahead, how to pick the best photographer and the key elements of a successful photo session. We’ll also provide some creative ideas to help you make your photos unique and memorable:

Importance of Planning Ahead

When it comes to capturing perfect family photos at your wedding, planning ahead is key. Planning ahead helps ensure that you have the time and resources to take the best photos possible. It also helps minimize the stress of organizing a photo session on the day of the wedding.

How to Pick the Best Photographer for the Wedding

Take the time to research the different photographers in your area. Look at their portfolios and read their reviews online. Most photographers have websites that showcase their work, and this is a great way to get an idea of their style. You can also ask friends and family for recommendations.

Once you’ve narrowed down your list of potential photographers, it’s time to meet with them. Ask questions about their experience and style, and be sure to view samples of their work. You should also discuss the different packages they offer. Make sure that the photographer is comfortable with the type of photography you want and that their pricing structure fits within your budget.

What Makes Good Family Wedding Photos

First, decide who you want to include in your family wedding photos. Include immediate family members like your parents, siblings, and children. You can also include extended family members, like grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Once you know who you want in the photos, make sure everyone is dressed appropriately. Choose colours that coordinate with the wedding colours and make sure everyone’s clothing is clean and wrinkle-free.

Next, choose a location for the photos. If you’re having an outdoor wedding, consider taking some family photos outdoors. If you’re having an indoor wedding, look for a nice spot in the venue. Consider the lighting, background, and other elements in the photo. Try to choose a spot that has good lighting and is free of any distractions.

Once you’ve chosen a location, it’s time to decide on poses. You can have everyone stand in a line or sit in a circle. You can also have different family members interact with each other. For example, the bride and groom can hold hands while the parents stand behind them. Or, you can have the bride and groom kiss while the family looks on.

Finally, make sure you get a variety of photos. Get a mix of posed and candid shots. Have your photographer take some close-up shots as well as wide-angle shots. Ask them to capture different expressions and interactions between family members.

Must-Have Family Photos to Take at a Wedding

Here is a list of must-have family photos to take at a wedding.

  1. Bride and Groom Portraits: A bride and groom portrait is one of the most important photos to take at a wedding. This is the photo that will be displayed in your home and will be the photo that you share with your friends and family.
  2. Family Portraits: Family portraits are a great way to capture the entire family together. There should be a photo of the bride and groom with their parents, as well as a few other family members.
  3. Group Photos: Make sure to get a few group photos of the bride and groom with their bridal party, as well as some photos of the entire family.
  4. Candid Photos: Candid photos are a great way to capture the special moments that happen throughout the day. Keep an eye out for special moments between family members, and make sure to capture these moments as well.

Conclusion

Having family photos taken at weddings is a great way to capture special memories that will last a lifetime. It is important to think about how many family members you would like to be included in the photos and plan ahead to ensure that everyone is available and ready to take part in the photos.

But wedding videos can also be overwhelming and expensive if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Here are the ten commandments of wedding videos to help you make the most of your special day.

Planning for your wedding video should begin at least six months in advance. This will give you time to find the right videographer and discuss the details of the video. 1. Thou Shalt Capture the Details

Don’t forget the details that make your wedding unique. Capture the flowers, the cake, the dress, and all of the other details that make your wedding day special.

  1. Thou Shalt Communicate

Communication is key when it comes to wedding videos. Make sure to communicate with the videographer throughout the process so they know what you want and you know what they are providing.

  1. Thou Shalt Provide Guidance

You know your wedding better than anyone else, so make sure to provide guidance to the videographer. Tell them what is important to you and what shots you would like to have included.

  1. Thou Shalt Be Prepared

On the day of the wedding, make sure to arrive early and be prepared for the videographer. This will give them time to set up and capture the perfect shots.

  1. Thou Shalt Consider the Editing

Make sure that you and your videographer discuss the editing of your wedding video before the day of the wedding. This will ensure that you get the video you want in the end.

  1. Thou Shalt Have Fun

Considerations When Finding the Perfect Wedding Photographer
December 28, 2022

It is said that the heart of excellent wedding photography is emotion. And while that may be true, the best wedding photography is a balance of emotion and technical expertise.

When planning your wedding, choosing a photographer who will ideally capture the memories of your big day is vital. But with so many different photographers, how do you know which is right for you? Below are some of the must-have qualities of a great wedding photographer:

Someone Who Respects Your Vision

When it comes to wedding photography, there are a lot of different styles and approaches that photographers can take. And while there are a lot of great photographers out there, the perfect wedding photographer for you is someone who respects your vision.

Your wedding day is all about you and your partner, so your photographer must capture the day in a way that is true to your style and personality. If you are looking for a photographer who will be respectful of your vision, here are a few things to keep in mind.

First, ensure you communicate your vision clearly to your photographer. It can be done during your initial meeting or even before you book them by looking at their portfolio and getting a feel for their style.

Once you have found a photographer whose style you love, ensure you give them a detailed shot list of the photos you want. It will help them understand the types of images you are looking for and ensure that they capture the moments that are most important to you.

Finally, trust your photographer to do their job. They know how to capture the perfect moments, so let them do their thing and enjoy your wedding day!

Someone Who Knows How to Put You at Ease

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. You want everything to be perfect, and that includes your wedding photos. But how do you find the perfect photographer?

Top Creative Photography Tips for Your Winter Wedding
December 22, 2022

Celebrating your wedding during the winter season can prove to be a challenge. Aside from dealing with the cold weather and possible mishaps during your big day, taking the best photos can be difficult due to the lack of natural light, extreme temperature, and tricky shadows.

Fortunately, wedding photographers can take advantage of these creative tips to get stunning photographs of your big day. Here are some of the best creative photography tips for your winter wedding to help you capture beautiful memories to last a lifetime.

  1. Consider the Light

As a wedding photographer, dealing with winter days can be a challenge. The short days mean you have a limited time window to capture the perfect shots of your couple’s special day. The light can be harsh and unforgiving, making it difficult to create the perfect look for your photos.

Winter weddings can be stunningly beautiful, especially when the natural light is taken advantage of. Look for well-lit areas and avoid bright, direct sunlight as much as possible. With the right strategy and arrangement, you can capture stunning wedding photos that stand the test of time.

  1. Take Advantage of the Snow

The beauty of snow is that it can turn any ordinary scene into a magical winter wonderland. The snow can add a unique charm to your photos, whether you’re having an outdoor wedding or an indoor ceremony.

To make the most of this:

  1. Use a shallow depth of field to give your photos a dreamy, romantic feel.
  2. Remember that the snow can reflect a lot of light and make it hard to take clear photos.
  3. Make sure your wedding photographer has the right lenses and lighting to capture the snowy scenes.
  1. Use Reflections

Are you planning a winter wedding with a view of a lake or pond? If so, you’re in for a real treat! Winter weddings can be incredibly romantic and beautiful, and the addition of a lake or pond can add a stunning backdrop for your special day. With its shimmering reflections, a lake or pond can make for some gorgeous wedding photos that you’ll cherish for years.

There are a few points to remember to make the most of the lake or pond at your winter wedding. First, consider the time of day. If you plan to take photos near the lake or pond, the best time of day is usually during golden hour, which is 1-2 hours before sunset. This is when the light is soft and warm, and the reflections in the water will be particularly stunning.

  1. Embrace the Cold

Winter weddings can be cold and uncomfortable, but don’t let that stop you from having fun! Embrace the cold, and your photos will reflect that. One of the best ways to capture the beauty of the winter season is to take photos of couples cuddling up together for warmth. Whether it’s a warm embrace or a romantic kiss, capturing the love between a couple in the snow will create beautiful photos that will last a lifetime.

Final Thoughts

Winter wedding photography can be challenging and requires extra planning and preparation. The right gear, the proper location, and the suited type of light are all essential elements of a successful winter wedding shoot.

Furthermore, using creative angles, poses, and a creative colour palette can help make your photos stand out. You can create beautiful and unforgettable winter wedding photos with the right preparation and creativity.

How Wedding Photography Has Evolved Over the Years
December 15, 2022

Wedding photography has come a long way since the days of family snapshots and posed group shots. In today’s digital age, wedding photographers continuously evolve their techniques to capture timeless moments that showcase the intimate emotions of the big day.

This article will discuss how wedding photography has evolved to meet changing trends and expectations.

Pre-Digital Era

Before the introduction of digital cameras, wedding photography relied on film-based cameras. This was a time-consuming and expensive process; photographers had to purchase rolls of film for the cameras and then develop them for their clients in a darkroom.

The quality of the images produced with film cameras was generally quite good, but the techniques used were much different than what is found today. Photographers often used single-lens reflex (SLR) cameras, which required the photographer to adjust settings like aperture and shutter speed manually. Filters were also used to manipulate colours and light.

A. Early Wedding Photography Techniques

To take pictures, photographers would have to set the aperture, shutter speed, and focus manually. Some photographers even used medium-format cameras, which could produce large prints but necessitated long exposure times.

In addition to traditional film cameras, Polaroid cameras became popular in the pre-digital era, allowing couples to capture moments during their wedding day that otherwise would not have been possible.

B. Popular Wedding Photography Styles of the Time

Before digital photography, most wedding photos were taken in a traditional style. This meant that portraits and group shots were posed, considering each image’s lighting and background. Colour photography was also popular then, particularly once colour film became widely available in the 1950s.

Landscape and candid shots were also increasingly popular among photographers, as these styles allowed couples to capture unique, unscripted moments from their wedding day.

Digital Revolution

The Digital Revolution has profoundly impacted how wedding photography is done and what it looks like. New technologies have opened up a world of possibilities, allowing photographers to shoot in ways that were once unimaginable.

A. Benefits of Digital Photography for Weddings

Digital photography offers several advantages over traditional film-based photography regarding weddings. For starters, digital cameras can be used in many lower-light situations, meaning that even dark venues or outdoor shots at night can be captured with stunning clarity.

Digital photography also allows for more creative freedom, as photographers can combine multiple shots later to get precisely the look they’re after. Additionally, digital photos can be edited later if needed, making it easier for couples to adjust and tweak their images until they’re perfect.

Finally, storage space for digital photos is significantly less than traditional film photos, meaning couples don’t need to worry about running out of room.

B. Popular Wedding Photography Styles of the Digital Era

Cinematic wedding photography is about creating a narrative from your wedding day by capturing candid moments in a cinematic style, while drone photography utilizes unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to capture high-resolution aerial images and videos. It allows for capturing stunning panoramic views, extreme angles, and even perspectives that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with conventional camera equipment.

Conclusion

Wedding photography has certainly come a long way since its inception. Couples can now record their wedding day in vivid detail with a photojournalistic style and post-wedding albums to commemorate the best moments from their big day. With many innovative options available in today’s market, couples can ensure their wedding photos are as unique as ever.

10 Great Reasons to Plan Your Wedding during Autumn or Winter
December 8, 2022

Sure, summer weddings are exciting. There’s nothing like heading out and enjoying the warm sun on your skin as you walk down the aisle to meet the love of your life. However, for some people, summer weddings are just too boring. They want something a little spicier. Are you one of them? If so, consider an autumn or winter wedding instead! With cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and some of the most stunning natural backdrops, autumn and winter weddings can be breathtakingly beautiful.

That said, if you’re still on the fence about hosting an autumn or winter wedding, you’re in the right place! Here are some amazing reasons you should consider hosting your wedding during these cooler months:

  1. Stunning Natural Backdrops

Autumn and winter months are full of the most stunning natural backdrops. From the changing colours of the leaves to the snow-covered landscapes, there is no shortage of beautiful scenery to choose from.

  1. Perfect Weather

Cooler temperatures make for a more comfortable wedding day. You won’t have to worry about sweating through your dress or having guests become overheated.

  1. Affordable Venues

Venue costs tend to be lower in the autumn and winter months due to a shortage of demand. You may be able to snag a great deal on your dream venue.

  1. Availability

You may find it easier to secure the services of your preferred vendors during the off-season. From caterers to photographers, you may have more luck finding your dream team during the autumn and winter months.

  1. Less Competition

Many couples avoid winter weddings. While this might be a bad sign when trying to host one then, the fact of the matter is that you may have fewer competing couples vying for the same vendors, venues, and services. This makes planning much easier!

  1. More Intimate

Winter weddings tend to be more intimate affairs due to the reduced number of guests. This can lead to a more meaningful and memorable wedding for both you and your guests.

  1. Fireplaces

Many venues will have fireplaces or wood-burning stoves. While this is essential to keep your venue warm, it offers another benefit: a warm atmosphere. Such an atmosphere is inviting and cozy, and it might be the thing you want out of your wedding.

  1. Unique Decor

Think of all the unique winter decor you can use to create a one-of-a-kind winter wonderland. From evergreen trees to snow-covered branches, your decor will be sure to wow your guests.

  1. Holiday Cheer

If you plan your wedding close to the holidays, you can use this to your advantage. From incorporating holiday decorations to serving festive treats, you can create a truly unique and festive wedding experience.

  1. Whimsical Photos

Nothing could be more romantic than photos of you and your partner in a winter wonderland. Snow-covered landscapes, twinkling lights, and cozy fireplaces make for a truly magical photo backdrop.

Conclusion

No matter what type of wedding you’re having, there are plenty of ways to make it special when you plan it around the holidays. From festive decorations to delicious treats, you can create a truly unique and memorable experience for you and your guests.

The Significance of Having a First Look On Your Wedding Day
November 30, 2022

The initial look is one photo series you won’t want to pass up.  It’s a widely held idea that it’s “bad luck” to see one another before getting married, but that hunch is mere superstition, an outdated concept that modern society should never believe.

This practice is thought to have originated in the days of arranged weddings when it was possible that a couple had never even met before their wedding day.

Before they meet at the altar, if the couple ever exchanges glances, it was thought that if one is unhappy with their match, they might elect to leave.

Nowadays, it’s increasingly normal to tie the knot with the person you love, so there’s no harm in having a first glance or the traditional aisle reveal because you’ll be thrilled with what you see!

The Difference between First Look and First Reveal

During a first look, the bride and groom have a quiet moment together before the wedding ceremony, and the photographer discreetly captures this special moment on video.

On the other hand, the first reveal is the conventional route to take. The photographer will take pictures of the first time the bride and groom would see each other as they walk down the aisle to get married.

The Technicalities of the First Look

The start of your wedding day is already shrouded in so much mystery. It’s usual for you to feel jittery, worried, or tense. First impressions can help you feel less worried and more like you’re going to meet your best friend for the most amazing day of your lives by getting one of those key moments out of the way early.

Pictures of this moment allow you to witness how all of that tension transforms into an experience that can only be characterized as pure delight. Knowing that your partner is experiencing the same things as you does not hurt either.

Knowing that you’re both in this together also calms you down when you see each other shaking with similar emotions and bubbling with enthusiasm.

It Keeps Your Emotional Moment Intimate

In a first-look wedding photo, only you, your future spouse, and your photographer will be present. This can be an emotional time, and only some feel comfortable expressing their emotions in front of their entire family and social circle. The present has a lot of lovely vulnerability wrapped up in it. You’re less inclined to hold back when you’re in a secluded setting with just your spouse and a professional photographer. In a private reveal, the feelings can flow naturally, allowing your photographer to capture the depth of your emotions beautifully.

It Gives You Time to Yourselves

Before you know it, you’ll be walking down the aisle, exchanging wedding rings, saying your vows, receiving all the congrats, and then having a blast at your reception. The days leading up to a wedding are hectic and pass by quickly. You can enjoy this time for yourselves for a short while by setting aside some time for a first look photo session. Before the main commotion starts, you can spend some time there alone contemplating things. There are few opportunities to truly etch these memories into your mind since the wedding day moves by so quickly.

It Offers the Opportunity to Take Your Portraits

The more you accomplish before the wedding, the more time you’ll have later to unwind. You and your photographer can move on to portraits and other images that can be shot before the wedding even starts after your first look wedding photos. The main advantage is having extra time to have supper with your guests or socialize with your favourite individuals.

It Enables You to Share and Appreciate the Details in Your Attire

Perhaps you wore a dress or suit that included your significant other’s favourite colour, or perhaps you’re wearing a locket around your neck that has a miniature of your engagement photo. Even though a lot of attention went into placing these small elements there in the first place, they are frequently forgotten in the chaos of the wedding. The first look is the ideal opportunity to highlight any exquisite features and thoughtful finishing touches that you can’t wait to showcase.

Conclusion

There are many benefits to having a first look on your wedding day. First, it can help you to feel more relaxed and less nervous on your big day. Second, it can help to ensure that you and your partner are on the same page regarding your wedding day timeline. Third, it can give you a chance to take some beautiful wedding photos before the craziness of the day begins.

Ultimately, whether or not you have a first look is up to you and your partner. But, if you are considering it, be sure to weigh all of the pros and cons before making a final decision.

9 Things You Can Do to Make a Rainy Wedding Day Work
November 24, 2022

The weather can be fickle—and so can a wedding day. If you’re hoping for sun, but the forecast calls for rain, don’t panic! With a bit of planning and creativity, you can still have a beautiful ceremony that doesn’t get washed out by the rain.

Here are nine things you can do to make sure your rainy-day wedding goes off without a hitch:

Have an Alternate Plan

If you’re going to get married outside, have a backup plan in case of rain. Consider the possibility of holding an indoor ceremony or reception and ensure it’s something both you and your venue can accommodate. If your outdoor ceremony location has a large covered area, that might be a better option than trying to move everything indoors.

Consider a Tent

If you’re having an outdoor ceremony, having a tent set up will go a long way toward making sure everyone stays dry. Consider what type of tent you want and have it available on your wedding day, along with any equipment needed to put it up. You may also want to include an area for guests to wait under the tent in case of rain; this can help prevent them from getting wet while waiting for their turn to walk down the aisle.

Provide Rainy Day Favors

If you’re planning on having an outdoor wedding, consider giving guests a small gift that they can use in case of rain. This will help them feel more prepared should Mother Nature decide to dump buckets of water on your big day.

Think About Your Hair And Make-up

Wear make-up that won’t run or smear if caught in the rain. Your hair should be able to handle the elements, too—if it’s made up of thin braids, they may come undone when wet. If your wedding is indoors and on a rainy day, consider wearing a veil instead of flowers in your hair.

Provide Guests with Umbrellas

Handing umbrellas to guests as they arrive will go a long way toward making them feel comfortable in the rain. You can also provide ponchos or rain gear at the entrance if you want to make sure that everyone stays dry.

Have Towels on Hand

Towels are a great way to ensure guests who get caught in the rain can dry off quickly. You can have towels at the entrance or in a tent near the ceremony.

Purchase Wedding Insurance

Wedding insurance is a great way to protect yourself from the financial burden of cancelling your wedding in the case of severe weather. It can be that the cost of cancelling your wedding could be covered by insurance, but it’s always a good idea to check with your provider before you make any purchase.

Plan for Rainy Day Photos

If you have a photographer at your wedding, they may be able to use creative solutions to create beautiful pictures even when it’s raining. They can use umbrellas or raincoats for protection and take advantage of any available natural light.

Embrace It

As long as you plan for it, there’s no reason not to enjoy a rainy day wedding. Ensure your guests have warm clothes and umbrellas so they can enjoy the day just as much as everyone else.

Conclusion

A rainy-day wedding can be just as beautiful—and even more romantic—than a sunny one. With the tips we shared, you can make the most of any weather conditions and have a beautiful day that all will remember.

Rain or shine, Edmonton wedding photographers will be there to capture every moment, no matter what the weather. If you are planning a wedding, contact Flux Media Yeg today!

6 Tips on How to Look Relaxed in Your Wedding Photos
November 17, 2022

Many people are nervous about having a professional photographer take photos of them on their wedding day because they remember how uncomfortable it was to have their picture taken in school. However, it doesn’t have to be that way! There are ways to make the experience more enjoyable. Let’s get started.

  1. Have Pre-Wedding Shoot

Engagement shoots are a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day. Usually, one to two hours long, they allow you to build rapport with your photographer and get used to posing for photos. If you can schedule your engagement shoot to coincide with your hair and makeup trial, even better!

  1. Get a Wedding Photographer You’re Comfortable with

It is important to find a photographer whose work you love and a photographer you have a good feeling about and imagine you will have a good rapport with. This way, you will be more likely to feel relaxed around them when they photograph you, and you will be able to approach them with your own ideas.

  1. Book Your Photographer for Another Hour

When creating your wedding day timeline, booking your photographer for an hour longer than you think you will need them is a good idea. Unexpected things can happen, which might cause the timeline to change. Having that extra hour will ensure no worry or stress if something happens that you didn’t plan for.

  1. Be Comfortable in Your Dress

Your wedding dress is beautiful, but it is also important that you are comfortable in it. It is a good idea to devise a plan to keep it comfortable throughout the day and night. This may include having a short dress for the reception or bringing a pair of comfortable shoes to change into.

  1. Don’t Hesitate to Say No

You should feel comfortable saying no to your photographer if you’re not into public displays of affection or if a pose they suggest doesn’t feel like you. A good photographer will happily accommodate you because they want to get photos you’ll love and provide you with a fun and positive experience.

  1. Remember How Good You Look

Your wedding day is when you dress up in your dream dress and feel like a princess. You’ll also have your hair and makeup done professionally, so you’ll look and feel your best. The guys will also be looking sharp in their suits. Everyone will look great and feel great on this special day. Don’t worry about how you’ll look in your photos. If you feel great, you’ll look great.

Conclusion

There are numerous ways to appear relaxed in your wedding photos. Following the advice in this article can help ensure that you and your spouse will look natural and comfortable in your wedding photos. By working with your photographer to choose the right poses and locations and practicing your facial expressions and body language ahead of time, you can help ensure that your wedding photos will be a lasting reminder of your special day.

5 Tips to Appear Relaxed and Carefree in Your Wedding Photos
November 10, 2022

The thought of having a photographer document your every move on your wedding day can be nerve-racking for some. Many people’s only experience of being professionally photographed is from their school days, which may not have been the most positive experience.

On top of everything you need to plan for your wedding, you shouldn’t have to worry about looking great in your wedding photos. If posing for a photo is something you aren’t comfortable in, don’t fear. We’ve compiled a few tips so that your wedding photos will look carefree and effortless.

1) Find a Wedding Photographer You Trust

The first step to taking great wedding photos is finding a photographer you trust. This person will be with you on one of the most important days of your life, so it’s important that you feel comfortable around them.

Schedule a consultation with a few different photographers and get a feel for their personalities. Once you’ve found a photographer you click with, let them know your concerns about being photographed on your wedding day. They should be able to put your mind at ease and help you feel more comfortable in front of the camera.

2) Prepare Yourself with an Engagement Shoot

One of the best ways to prepare for your wedding photos is to schedule an engagement shoot with your photographer. This will give you a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera and learn how your photographer works.

During the engagement shoot, be sure to try out different poses and experiment with your facial expressions. This will help you feel more natural on your wedding day when it comes time to take photos.

3) Pretend Your Photographer Isn’t There

When you’re taking your couple photos, it’s important to focus on your new spouse and to enjoy your time alone with them. This will make your photos look more natural.

If you can manage to forget that there’s a photographer documenting your every move on your wedding day, you’ll probably end up feeling more relaxed.

4) Do What Feels Natural

If you’re not sure what to do during your couple photos, just do what feels natural. You don’t have to do anything in particular, just focus on your spouse and on enjoying this special time with them.

If you’re feeling awkward or unsure about what to do, ask your photographer for some direction. They can give you some tips on how to relax and how to make your photos look more natural.

Your photographer should be willing to work with you to get the photos you want. They should be open to your suggestions and willing to try new things to get the best possible photos.

5) Remember That You Look Good!

Sometimes we can get so caught up in taking photos that we forget how attractive we are. Remember that you and your spouse are a beautiful couple, and your photos should reflect that. Feel free to be a little flirty and have fun with your photos.

Conclusion

There are many things to consider when taking carefree wedding photos. By taking the time to plan ahead and be prepared, you can ensure that your wedding photos are everything you’ve ever dreamed of.

8 Common Mistakes People Make with Wedding Photography
October 27, 2022

Wedding photography is one of the most important aspects of your big day. After all, these are the photos that you will look back on for years to come! But as important as wedding photography is, it can also be one of the most stressful parts of wedding planning. There are so many things that can go wrong!

To help you avoid any wedding photography mishaps on your big day, we’ve compiled a list of the top most common mistakes.

1. Not Hiring a Professional Photographer

One of the biggest mistakes you can make is not hiring a professional photographer. Yes, your friend or family member may be able to take some nice photos, but they’re not going to be able to capture all the special moments like a professional can.

2. Not Having a Backup Plan

It’s always important to have a backup plan, especially when it comes to your wedding photography. Make sure you have a backup photographer lined up in case your original photographer is unable to make it.

3. Not Communicating Your Vision

Before your big day, it’s important to sit down with your photographer and communicate your vision. This way, they know exactly what you’re looking for and can capture the photos you’ve always dreamed of.

4. Not Doing a First Look

A first look is a great way to capture some truly special moments between you and your partner. Not to mention, it can help you relax and feel more comfortable in front of the camera before the ceremony.

5. Not Getting a Wedding Album

Your wedding photos are going to be something you cherish for a lifetime, so make sure you get them printed! A wedding album is a perfect way to keep all of your memories in one place.

6. Not Taking Advantage of Natural Light

Natural light is your friend! If you’re able to, take advantage of it and use it to your advantage. It will make your photos look so much better. But of course, if you do not have access to natural light, be sure to utilize light sources that mimic natural light.

7. Not Hiring a Second Shooter

If your budget allows, we highly recommend hiring a second shooter. They will be able to capture different angles and moments that you may not be able to get with just one photographer.

8. Not Being Prepared for Bad Weather

If you’re getting married outdoors, it’s always important to be prepared for bad weather. Remember, while you can somewhat rely on weather forecasts, they’re not 100% accurate. The weather can stay great, or it can turn for the worse. So, always plan for bad weather to ensure your wedding is shot well at all times.

Conclusion

Your wedding is one of if not the most special moments in your life. And as such, you would want to be able to reminisce about that beautiful day. Be sure to hire professional photographers to take stunning shots of your wedding day. Also, ensure that you follow the tips above, as they will all ensure that your wedding is captured in the best way possible!

6 Must-Have Wedding Photography Props for Great Photos
October 19, 2022

If you want to take truly unique and memorable wedding photos, consider using props and accessories. By incorporating creative elements into the shoot, you can help your couples express their individuality and add a personal touch to their photos. Not to mention, it can also make posing more fun and interactive!

In other words, props can make or break a photo. They can add dimension, interest, and fun if used well. But if used poorly, they can look cheesy, cluttered, and out of place. It’s all about using props wisely and sparingly.

Here are some props to include:

1. Fairy Lights and Hanging Bulbs

Fairy lights and hanging bulbs can help create a princess or fairy-tale wedding. These little illuminated elements can transform any location into a dreamy setting and add warmth to the images. The string of lights can be stretched out horizontally or placed against a wall to create a waterfall-like effect and magically enhance the creative appeal of your photos.

2. Paper Flowers

Paper flowers are a great way to add a unique and personal touch to your wedding decorations. You can find paper flowers in various colours and styles to match your wedding theme, and they can be used to decorate everything from ceremony arches to old swings. Paper flowers are unique and add a touch of whimsy and nostalgia to the setting. Plus, paper flowers make great photography props and can help you create some stunning wedding photos.

3. Smoke Bombs

Smoke bombs are a great way to add a surreal effect to your wedding photos. You can ask your couple to hold the smoke bombs or have your assistant carry them during the shoot. You can help your couple pick a colour that suits their wedding theme or story with so many available colours.

4. Decorated Ladder

A wooden or wrought-iron ladder can be decorated with flowers or ribbons to make it look more appealing. If a couple can’t find a decorated ladder in the market, they can purchase a simple one and paint it white. The wedding decorators can then decorate it to match the wedding vibe. The ladder should be placed in the corner of the wedding venue, which contrasts with the white of the ladder.

5. Umbrellas

Umbrellas can be a great addition to wedding photography, whether you use them as props or to protect your couple from rain. Transparent umbrellas can create some beautiful images with raindrops falling through them, while lighter umbrellas can create stunning silhouettes.

6. Balloons

Balloons are a great way to add fun to any backdrop, especially weddings. Suggest wedding-themed balloons to your couples, such as alphabet or number balloons with the bride and groom’s initials and wedding date or a sweet message for their guests. Balloons come in shapes and colours, so couples can choose something that aligns with their preferences.

Conclusion

Wedding photography props can be a great way to add creativity and personality to your wedding photos. They can also be a fun way to personalize your wedding day and make it your own. When choosing props, consider the overall theme and feel of your wedding, and choose props that will complement that. With a bit of planning and thoughtfulness, you can use props to create beautiful and unique wedding photos that you and your spouse will cherish for years to come.

1. Choose a Photographer You Trust

This is the most important thing. You need to find a photographer you feel comfortable with and who you trust to capture your special day.

2. Set Aside Some Time

Pre-wedding photography takes time, so make sure you set aside enough time before your wedding day. Schedule your session when you and your partner are both free and relaxed. Avoid scheduling it right before or after a stressful event, such as a work deadline.

3. Plan Your Outfits

Your pre-wedding photos are a great opportunity to show off your wedding day style. Plan your outfits in advance so you can feel confident and comfortable on the day. Wear clothing that makes you feel comfortable and stylish. And finally, avoid wearing anything too tight or constricting.

4. Decide on a Location

Choose a location that has meaning to you both. This could be where you first met, had your first date, or got engaged. You can also bring along any props that you would like to use in your photos, like a bouquet, a bottle of champagne, or even your engagement and wedding rings.

5. Relax and Have Fun

Pre-wedding photography is a great opportunity to relax and have fun with your partner. It is all about capturing the joy and excitement of your upcoming nuptials. So, enjoy the moment, and don’t worry about the little things.

Conclusion

Pre-wedding photography is a great way to capture the love and excitement leading up to your big day! Unique Wedding Photography Ideas to Try with Your Guests

Here are some precious ideas to get everyone in on the picture-taking fun:

  4. Ask your guests to write their advice for a happy marriage on cards or paper and take a photo of them holding the cards.
  5. Set up a “photo scavenger hunt” for your guests. You have to give them a list of things to find and photograph and see who can find the most items on the list. This activity is a great way to get everyone moving and mingling, and you’ll end up with some great photos.
  6. If you want to capture the fun and excitement of your wedding day, consider a group photo with everyone in a playful pose. For example, get your guests to help you create a human pyramid. It is a great way to get everyone laughing and smiling, and you’ll end up with an amusing photo.
  7. Get creative with your group photo! Consider having everyone stand in a circle or heart shape. Or, have everyone write a special message on a piece of paper they can hold in the photo.
  8. Get them to help you with your wedding dress – ask your maid of honour or bridesmaids to help you put on your dress. You may even ask your mother or grandmother. It will make for some lovely photos and be a special moment for you all to share.
  9. Get everyone to help you with your veil – again, this is a great way to involve your guests in your photos and make for some lovely candid shots.
  10. Get your guests to hold up signs from their seats – this is a great way to get everyone involved and will add fun to your photos. You could have signed with your wedding date, your name, or even just simple messages of love.
  11. Get your guests to throw confetti or petals – this is a classic way to involve your guests in your photos, and it always looks beautiful. Make sure you let your guests know in advance so they can bring along some confetti or petals.
  12. Get your guests to help you with your bouquet – ask your maid of honour or bridesmaids to help you with your bouquet, or even your mother or grandmother. It will make for some lovely photos and a special moment for you all to share.

Conclusion

It’s crucial to involve your guests in your wedding photos to make the event more memorable. It will help create a more personal and unique wedding album that you and your guests can enjoy for years. 5 Pointers To Planning A Family Wedding Photography Session
September 28, 2022

When it comes to wedding photos, family portraits are some of the most important to capture. After all, your wedding day is a celebration of your love and commitment to each other, but it’s also a time to celebrate your families coming together.

Formal family group photographs have been a way for us to record the history of our families ever since the introduction of the camera, and a wedding day might be the ideal occasion to take these photos.

Given that a wedding is one of the rare events that unites your family across generations, you already have a wedding photographer in Edmonton.

However, family photos at a wedding can also be a major cause of stress, and they may occasionally take up a lot of time during the day when you’d rather be doing other things like relaxing with your favorite people and enjoying beverages during cocktail hour.

Planning is essential if you want your family wedding photography in Edmonton to be all you’ve envisioned. Here are some pointers to get you going:

Make A Plan

There’s no need for family photos to consume a significant amount of your wedding day. You can outline all mandatory pictures and guarantee they go quickly and easily with a little planning.

As we collect all the different combinations as part of our final planning questionnaire from our couples, we record this information with them and, based on that list, develop a time budget.

Following time suggestions and the preferences of our pair, we can increase or decrease the list. This preparation work allows us to quickly complete the list, coordinate everyone, and move on to the party when the actual day arrives.

Lastly, we advise you to email each person who will be there at photo time to let them know when and where to be. This ensures everyone is where they should be and saves you time from finding the cousin who used the restroom or the uncle who is already at the bar.

Do Not Include Your Spouse

We occasionally observe combinations of portraits where one spouse intermittently appears in each subsequent image.

An illustration would be a picture of the bride’s family with and without the groom present. Although we don’t find this to be a strict requirement, we would like you to consider a scenario in which you would wish to publish a family photo without both of you in it.

Your marriage and family unification are the day’s sole goals! Keep yourselves connected, perhaps with the occasional sibling snapshot.

Allow Important Couples to Also Get Portraits

This last suggestion is a noticeable departure from most of our advice, which tends to help you take fewer photographs and spend less time doing so.

How frequently does your family get a professional photographer and get dressed up? Allow your parents, grandparents, and only them, to be photographed. They may not have recently had a professional photoshoot, so they will be quite touched that you thought of them.

Value Quality Over Quantity

It would help if you didn’t reorganize your family because you can do it in 50 different ways. Consider which family member pairings you would print and place on the wall of your living room or include in your wedding album.

Keep that objective in mind to concentrate on the shots that truly matter. It’s simple to rearrange and create myriad variations, but you’re probably searching for a few key images. If in doubt, ask yourself, “Would I frame this?”

Keep The Reason In Mind

Generations of your family were brought together on YOUR wedding day. People went far to attend the celebration because your story was important.

Your narrative matters, but so does the tale of your entire family. The heritage is preserved by immortalizing this occasion with your family in a picture.

These images frequently increase in value as time passes, especially after losing loved ones. If you’re under pressure, keep in mind that it’s worthwhile!

Conclusion

There are many things to consider when planning family wedding portraits. It is important to communicate with Edmonton wedding photographers and planners to ensure everyone is on the same page. Timing is also crucial; you’ll want to ensure you schedule the portraits early, so everyone is fresh and looking their best. Most importantly, remember to have fun! Make sure you take the time to enjoy your wedding day because it is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. So, it’s only fitting that you and your spouse-to-be take some time to capture some stunning photos together. After all, you’ll want to remember this day for years to come!

Planning a wedding takes months because you want everything to be flawless. Even though your wedding is just one day, you will always treasure the images.

There are a variety of ways that you can pose for your wedding photos. This post offers everything you need when it comes to posing ideas, whether you’re looking for something timeless and refined or something a little more whimsical and fun.

Embracing

You will definitely show your love for one another by cuddling up close. This is a great pose for couples looking to capture their relationship’s intimacy and romance.

Kissing

No wedding photo shoot would be complete without a photo of the newlyweds sharing a kiss! This is the perfect pose to capture the love and excitement of your wedding day.

Wrapping and Kissing

The ideal sweet posture is the groom drawing the bride in for a kiss on the forehead. The rings and the excitement are visible!

Chasing

Weddings are full of motion, so attempt a less formal position by documenting the festivities. The bride briefly glances back at the photographer as the groom takes the lead. Take note of the dress’s flow.

Leaning And Kissing

The couple leans in for the kiss while standing a few feet apart. This position looks fantastic in the final image because of the architecture.

Classic Posing

One of the most timeless and romantic stances is this one. Both the bride and the groom display their profiles, with the bride’s back to the camera so that the groom can display the features of the back of the dress.

Peeking

You may be thrilled by the sneak peek! Simply yell out the bride’s or groom’s name and press the shutter with the couple’s faces at an angle to the camera. immediate charm

Following

This may be one of the cutest stances. It is easy and fun. To the next place, the bride leads the groom. Take a picture from the groom’s viewpoint. You have bonus points if you can capture the sun setting in the distance.

Lifting and Laughing

This one requires rehearsal before the huge white dress is put on. Just make sure the bride feels at ease, and don’t hold the pose for too long. This is such a fun moment to record the day.

Forehead Resting

Soft and calm, this private moment. Without needing to see faces, it is possible to discern the couple’s love and dedication for one another. To add some colour, hold the bouquet in one hand.

Tom and Lucy had a beautiful wedding, and it was clear that they were deeply in love with each other. It was lovely to see Tom finally find happiness again after all he had been through.

With your happy ever after coming soon, you can find inspiration from Tom Branson’s wedding by having vintage-themed wedding photography. Before your big day, you can have one for your pre-nuptial shots. Many factors must be considered when planning a vintage-themed wedding photography shoot. The following are some key points to keep in mind:

Location

Regarding your engagement photos, there are endless possibilities for locations. But if you are looking for a vintage-themed shoot, here are some great ideas to get you started.

  1. A quaint little café. A quaint café is another excellent option for a vintage-themed engagement photo shoot. It is the perfect place to capture some cute, candid shots.

As for your wedding venue, there are a few things to consider:

  1. You want to ensure the platform has enough space to accommodate all of your guests.
  2. You want to pick a location that is convenient for your guests to get to.
  3. You will want to choose a place that fits your budget.

Retro-Themed Dress Code

After deciding on your engagement and wedding photography location, it is time to decide what to wear. The outfit you choose should be based on the theme of the shoot. For example, if you are going for a vintage-inspired theme, you might want to select a dress from the 50s.

However, if you have chosen a retro-themed restaurant as your location, your outfit might need to be more modern. The dress code will depend on your photographer’s style, so talk to them and ensure they are okay with the theme before deciding what to wear.

Props

If you want your vintage-themed photos to be as authentic as possible, you should consider hiring an interior designer to help you with the props. They can help you find the perfect pieces to complement your theme. You can also ask your wedding photographer for tips on making your photos look more vintage. 7 Tips When Booking a Wedding Photographer in Advance
September 8, 2022

A wedding is one of the most memorable days in a couple’s life. And capturing those memories in beautiful photos is essential to look back on the day with happiness.

While some couples choose to DIY their wedding photography, hiring a professional photographer as earlier as the expected date is always the best option. Here are a few things to remember when booking your wedding photographer in advance:

1.Do Your Research

Before you start contacting photographers, you must do your research and have a clear idea of what you’re looking for. Read reviews, look at portfolios, and get a feel for different photography styles.

2. Have a Budget in Mind

Wedding photography can be expensive, so it’s crucial to set a budget and stick to it. You wouldn’t want to be surprised by the hefty bill after your big day. Many factors will affect the cost of your wedding photography, including the number of hours you need, the number of photographers you want, and the add-ons you choose.

3. Ask for Recommendations

You can ask for recommendations if you know someone who got married recently. They may have some great insights into finding a great photographer. You can also ask your friends and family who have used a wedding photographer in the past.

4. Compare Portfolios

When you are considering different photographers for your wedding, take a close look at their portfolios. This will give you a good sense of their style and how they approach wedding photography. By doing this, you can be sure to find a photographer whose work matches your vision for your big day.

5. Know Your Style

Do you want traditional posed photos or more candid, natural shots? Do you want formal portraits or more editorial-style photos? Knowing your style will help you find a photographer whose work matches your vision.

6. Ask About Packages

Many photographers offer different package options, so ask what’s included in each package. You may want to add on extras like engagement photos, bridal portraits, or a wedding album.

7. Book Early

Wedding photographers tend to fill up their schedules quickly, so you’ll want to get yours booked as soon as possible. Booking them as early as possible gives you more time to plan and choose the right photographer for your event.

Additionally, booking a photographer in advance helps you get the confidence to get the ideal shots you want without worrying or rushing things. Many photographers offer early-bird specials for couples who book early. You may take advantage of these specials, which will help you save money and resources.

Conclusion

There are many advantages of booking a wedding photographer earlier. Some of these advantages include having a wider selection of photographers to choose from, taking advantage of early bird discounts, and having more time to plan your wedding photography.

Additionally, booking a photographer earlier can help ensure that you get the photographer you want, as opposed to someone who is simply available on your wedding day. So, if you plan on getting married, be sure to book your wedding photographer ahead of time.

How a Bridal Portrait Can Capture Your Wedding Vision
August 25, 2022

When it comes to wedding planning, there are a lot of factors to consider. One big decision is whether or not to do a bridal portrait. Some couples feel like it’s a must, while others see it as an extra expense. So, what’s the verdict? Are bridal portraits worth it?

A bridal portrait session is typically scheduled one to two months before the wedding day and takes place at the photographer’s studio or another location of the client’s choosing.

If you’re on the fence about whether or not to invest in a bridal portrait session, this article is for you. We’ll explore the benefits of bridal portraits, so you can make an informed decision about whether or not they’re worth it for you.

Why You Should Get a Bridal Portrait

Bridal portraits are a popular way for couples to capture their love and affection for one another before their wedding day. While some couples may feel that they don’t need or want a bridal portrait, getting one has many benefits!

Here are a few of the reasons why you should consider getting a bridal portrait:

1. It’s a Great Way to Get Comfortable in Front of the Camera

If you’re not used to taking your pictures, a bridal portrait session is a perfect opportunity to be comfortable in front of the camera before your big day. This way, you won’t be as nervous on your wedding day, and you’ll be able to enjoy the moment more.

2. It Allows You to Try Out Your Hair and Makeup

Planning a wedding can be an overwhelming experience. From choosing the perfect dress to finalizing the guest list, there are a million details to take care of. One detail that is often overlooked is the bridal portrait.

Many brides choose to do a first look on their wedding day, but a bridal picture allows you to have a trial run of your hair and makeup. It also allows you to see how you look in your dress without the stress of your wedding day.

Bridal portraits are a great way to document your journey to becoming a wife. They are also a lovely keepsake for your wedding album.

3. It Can Be a Great Decoration in Your Home

Bridal portraits are a fantastic way to decorate your home with beautiful memories of your wedding day. Not only do they make great conversation starters, but they also help you to remember one of the most important days of your life every time you look at them.

The Process: Tips and How It Works

A typical bridal portrait session lasts about an hour. During that time, the photographer will take various posed and candid shots of the bride. The goal is to capture the bride’s personality and beauty so that she can look back on this moment for years to come.

Many brides choose to have professional bridal portraits taken in the months or weeks leading up to their wedding day. If you’re considering having your bridal portraits done, here are a few tips to help you get the most out of the experience:

It’s best to pick a photographer whose photography style you love and feel comfortable with. This is someone who will be spending a lot of time with you on your wedding day, so it’s crucial that you feel comfortable around them.

Additionally, decide what kind of look you want for your photos. Do you want something classic and timeless? Or are you looking for something more modern? Once you have an idea of the style you’re going for, share this with your photographer so they can help you achieve it.

Finally, don’t forget to have fun!

Conclusion

A bridal portrait can be a great way to capture your wedding vision. It can be used to help you plan your wedding, and it can also be a great keepsake. Talk to your photographer about your idea if you are thinking about having a bridal portrait taken.

5 Things to Ask a Wedding Photographer Before Booking Them
August 18, 2022

Your wedding photos will be cherished memories that you will look back on for years to come, so it’s important to choose a photographer you can trust to capture your big day perfectly. Do your research to find a photographer with a style you love and a track record of creating beautiful, timeless wedding photos.

The most important thing is to do your research and narrow it down to a few photographers you like. You can start interviewing them to see if they will be a good fit for your wedding. With that said, here are five things you should ask your potential photographer:

1. Their Years of Experience

When looking for a photographer, you want to find someone with years of experience. This will ensure they know what they’re doing and can perfectly capture your wedding day. You also want to find a photographer willing to work with you to get the shots you want. Someone open to your ideas and willing to work with you to capture your vision is essential.

Finally, you want to find a photographer whose style you love. Take a look at their portfolio and make sure that their style is something that you’re looking for. You don’t want to end up with photos that you don’t love because you didn’t take the time to find the right photographer.

2. Their Style

Every photographer has their unique style to bring to every wedding they photograph. They understand that you want your wedding day captured how you want it to be remembered, so working with the bride and groom is important to find out what style you are looking for. A good photographer will then use their creative flair to bring that style to life, ensuring that your wedding photos are truly one-of-a-kind.

3. Their Process

It’s essential to find out how the photographer works and their process. This will help you to understand how they operate and if they will be a good fit for your wedding. Most photographers will have a website outlining their process and work. This is a great place to start to get an idea of their style and approach. It’s also a good idea to meet with the photographer to get a better sense of their personality and see if they would be a good fit for your wedding day.

4. Their Portfolio

A photographer’s portfolio is a great way to see their work and get an idea of their style. Make sure to look at their portfolio before making your final decision. As a photographer, their portfolio is their calling card. It’s how they showcase their work to potential clients and employers and how they build their reputation in the industry.

5. Their Price

When choosing a wedding photographer, it’s important to find someone whose style you love and fits within your budget. But don’t sacrifice quality for price—make sure you find a photographer you love who will be able to capture your wedding day perfectly. Once you’ve found the right photographer, you can rest assured that your wedding photos will be beautiful and capture your special day perfectly.

Conclusion

When considering a wedding photographer, it is important to do your research and ask the right questions. Ask about their experience, style, pricing, and what is included in their packages. Also, be sure to ask for examples of their work and get references from past clients. By taking the time to do your homework, you will be sure to find a photographer that is the right fit for you and your wedding.

What Are Things You Need to Know about Your Wedding Photos?
August 3, 2022

Wedding photography is one of the most important ways to remember your wedding day. Your wedding photos will be cherished memories that you will look back on for years to come.

It is important to choose a wedding photographer you feel comfortable with and trust to capture your special day. Take the time to interview several photographers and view their portfolios to find the right fit for you.

When looking at wedding photography packages, be sure to ask about the number of hours of coverage included. You will want to make sure that your photographer will be able to capture your entire wedding day.

Your wedding photos are one of the most important things you will have to remember on your wedding day. Here are some things you should know about your wedding photos:

Have a Plan

You should have a plan for your wedding photos. This means thinking about the style of pictures you want, the locations you want to take them, and who you want to take them.

A second shooter can be a great asset on your wedding day, providing an extra set of eyes and hands to help capture all the details of your big day. Consider asking a friend or family member to be your second shooter. If you don’t have anyone in mind, there are many professional photographers who also offer second shooting services.

Make sure you communicate your vision for the photos to your second shooter. Discuss the style of pictures you want, the must-have shots, and any specific locations or ideas you have in mind.

It’s also a good idea to provide your second shooter with a list of people who will be in attendance on the day of the wedding, so they can be sure to get photos of everyone you want captured.

Pick the Perfect Location

You will want to choose a location that allows for lots of natural light. If you’re considering an indoor area, bring a flash. Find a place with lots of interesting backdrops and scenery. This will help your wedding photographer capture the perfect shot. If you’re shooting in a large group, make sure you have enough space so everyone can fit in the frame without being too close together.

Choose a Time of Day That Works Best for You

The best time to shoot is during the golden hour when the sun is low in the sky and the light is warm and soft. This is usually an hour or so before sunset. If you’re shooting outside, check the weather forecast in advance so you can plan accordingly. It’s also a good idea to have a backup location in mind in case the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Plan Your Shots

Before you start shooting, it’s a good idea to plan out your shots. This will help you make the most of your time and ensure you get the photos you want. Think about the type of shots you want and what you want to capture in each one. It can be helpful to create a shot list in advance so you, your photographer, and the shooter know what to expect.

Conclusion

There are a few key things to keep in mind when planning your wedding photos. Be sure to communicate your vision for your wedding photos with your photographer and give them an opportunity to ask any questions they may have. Finally, don’t forget to enjoy your wedding day!

The patio is surrounded by the building that is filled with greenery which makes it perfect for outdoor ceremonies. 5 Things to Discuss With Your Photographer before the Wedding
July 21, 2022

Getting married isn’t something you get to experience every day. For most people, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event. While the ceremony will likely be one of the most memorable parts of the day, it’s important to remember that it’s only one part of the overall experience.

To ensure that everyone has a great time at the ceremony and the reception, it’s best to talk to your wedding photographer beforehand. Here are five things that you definitely want to touch on before your big day arrives.

1. Let Them Know about Your Schedule

It’s important to give your wedding photographer a good idea of how your day will go. If there’s anything that needs to be coordinated with the caterers or other vendors, you should be sure to mention it.

Make sure that you give your photographer your ceremony start time, which may be different from the time of arrival. Notify them of any special events, such as an acoustic performer or valet service.

2. Have a List of Must-Have Shots

While your photographer will likely have a solid idea of the shots they’ll want to get if they’ve done their job right, it’s still important to make sure that you’ve shared your must-have shots with them.

This will ensure that they know what they need to focus on and make sure they get the coverage you want from the ceremony. If you have a list of must-haves, it will help them better coordinate with you and other vendors, as well as make sure your day goes smoothly.

3. Provide Your Photographer with a “Face Sheet”

Make sure to provide your photographer with a list of your important guests. This will help them better coordinate with you and the other vendors. Your photographer will be eager and able to take shots of the guests you want them to and will be able to make sure all of your important people are positioned in the correct places. A face sheet will also help your photographer identify people who are missing from the shot and act accordingly.

4. Let Them Know What to Wear

If you have a dress code for your reception, let your photographer know what you would like them to wear. It’s a good idea to let them know beforehand so that they’ll have time to rent, borrow or buy the appropriate attire for the event.

5. Give Them an Idea of the Venue’s Style

The style of your venue will likely have a huge impact on your wedding photos. A bride who is getting married at a church will likely have very different expectations than one who’s getting married in a studio. Make sure to let your photographer know what sort of style they can expect.

6. Be Aware of Your Lighting Needs

If your wedding reception is taking place in a space that is not well-lit, make sure to inform your photographer. You may need to have additional lights or reflectors brought in.

By keeping your photographer in the loop, you can ensure that they’re prepared for any lighting issues that could arise. Proper lighting is a huge part of making a great photo, and your photographer should be informed of how they will be able to capture your day.

Conclusion

Your wedding day will go by in a flash. Make sure that your photographer is fully prepared for your big day so that you can just relax and enjoy it. By talking to them beforehand, you’ll make sure that you get the shots that you want, so they can be sure to capture all of your big moments.

Making Memories: Wedding Themes That Look Good in Photos
July 13, 2022

Many weddings were rescheduled last 2020 because of the health crisis. Some couples opted to move their celebration to 2021, while others chose to have it this year. Are you keeping your previous theme? Or do you need to rethink it?

If you have to start from scratch, you do not have to worry because you are in the right place. This article lists the various themes that will look good in wedding photography. Nowadays, many couples do not like the traditional themes. Thanks to the wedding industry, you can have numerous choices and here are a few:

Fairytale Wedding

You can never go wrong with a fairytale wedding. It is guaranteed to look well in wedding photography. You can incorporate fairytale creatures like fairies, elves, pixies, or mermaids in this theme. You can even have a castle or drawbridge.

You can even find inspiration from these creatures for your gown. You can get a fantastic gown that has a train or even a tiara. Your bridesmaids can wear their gowns or dress up as fairytale creatures. You can even have fairy lights in your venue.

If you want a traditional Cinderella theme, you can wear a formal wedding gown and roll up to a carriage. You can also wear a crown. You can even have a horse-drawn carriage.

You can choose from various shades if you do not want to wear white. You can opt for Belle’s yellow gown or perhaps Cinderella’s light blue gown.

Bohemian Wedding

If you are uncertain about having a Bohemian wedding or how it will look in your wedding photography, do not fret. On the contrary, find inspiration from Andrea Casiraghi’s wedding. The couple had an elegant flair for their Bohemian wedding.

Bohemian themes are prevalent in wedding photography. The bride can wear a droplet headpiece, a Bohemian-colored gown, and long flowing hair. The bridesmaids can wear any colour they want, while the groom can wear a tuxedo or his usual clothes.

Vintage Wedding

If you are a fan of Downton Abbey, here is your chance to recreate Lady Edith’s wedding. Vintage themes are prevalent in wedding photography these days.

A vintage wedding will never go out of style. The bride can wear an elegant yet simple wedding gown or a vintage-inspired one. She can also wear a headpiece of her choice, or she may choose long sleeves, lace, or even an illusion neckline.

Your bridesmaids can wear long gowns. If they want to look more vintage, they can wear a long-sleeve gown and dress it up with long gloves and a headpiece. The men can wear a tuxedo or a classic suit.

Some couples opt to have their wedding in spring or summer to avoid wearing heavy clothing. If you choose this theme, you can go for the flapper’s costume.

Conclusion

There are a lot of ways for you to choose a theme for your wedding day. You do not have to stick with tradition. Always remember that the important thing for your wedding photography is to have fun.

Once you have your theme, you should reach out to Flux Media Yeg. As a wedding photographer in Edmonton, we can help you immortalize your big day just like we have done for others. Book your wedding now!

5 Questions to Ask a Wedding Photographer before Hiring
June 30, 2022

Sure, you can find anything online nowadays. However, you need to research what you’re buying, along with the vendor that’s providing it, to make sure you’re buying something that is legitimate and meets your expectations. The same thing can be said when it comes to hiring a wedding photographer for your wedding day, where you want to make sure you work with a professional that can deliver stunning results.

That said, if you’re wondering what you should be asking your wedding photographer to know what you can expect, here are a few questions to keep in mind:

1. Can You Show Your Past Works?

When talking to wedding photographers, it’s important to ask what’s available for viewing their wedding work. While it’s okay to view their work online (i.e., through a wedding photographer’s website), you also want to make sure you can see some of their wedding photography and their artistic vision, as opposed to only viewing their portfolio.

After all, you don’t want to hire a wedding photographer that’s going to be unable to deliver the results you want, and you want to make sure they’re the right fit to capture your wedding.

2. What Type of Equipment Do You Use?

A major part of selecting a wedding photographer for your wedding day is their equipment, which can make a huge difference in the quality of their wedding photography.

For example, you may have a wedding photographer that uses an outdated or lower-end camera and also doesn’t have the proper lens, which can result in blurred shots or grainy photos. You should also ask your wedding photographer what cameras they use and make sure they’re up-to-date and top of the line.

Take a look at their equipment, including the type of cameras they use, the lenses they work with, the types of lighting they use, the types of backdrops they use, and more.

3. Do You Have a Backup Plan?

To ensure that your wedding photographer is taking the utmost care of you and your wedding, you want to make sure they have a backup plan in place. For instance, if they’re going to be shooting a wedding that takes place in an outdoor location, they should have a backup plan in the event of severe weather.

While the wedding day will likely have a backup plan in place, you don’t want to take the chance of having your wedding photographer not showing up due to poor weather conditions. Make sure the wedding photographer has a backup plan in place to make sure that you don’t miss out on your special day.

4. What Type of Payment Arrangements Are Available?

While the majority of the wedding photography industry has moved toward the use of only credit cards and other forms of electronic payment, there are still some wedding photographers who only accept checks or cash. If you don’t have a credit card or have issues with collecting money and paying vendors, this may not be an issue. However, if you have payment issues, you’ll want to make sure you can work with a wedding photographer that can also accept cash or other forms of payment.

5. What’s Included in the Package?

Before you make any decisions about a wedding photographer, you want to make sure that you’re getting what you expect for the price paid.

When you’re talking to wedding photographers, ask them about what you can expect for your package. For example, you’ll want to find out if you can expect a certain number of edited photographs from the wedding or an album. You’ll also want to find out what’s included in the package, including if the wedding photographer is only taking pictures at specific times during the wedding.

Conclusion

When it comes to wedding photography, you want to find the right fit for your wedding, which will hopefully lead to stunning photos that you’ll be able to cherish for the rest of your life. With the right wedding photographer, you’ll be able to create timeless wedding photos that will be able to show the beauty of your wedding now and for the rest of your life!

Here’s How You Can Avoid Having Awkward Wedding Photos
June 15, 2022

While it is important to enjoy the moment during your wedding, how you look in your wedding photos also plays a crucial role. As much as we want to imagine that we all get picture-perfect moments during our wedding, it is not the case at all. In fact, the nerves could end up making us look awkward in our photos.

Don’t worry, however. We have you covered because, in this article, we will give you tips on how to not look awkward in your wedding photos.

1. Have a Practice Shoot

As funny as it may sound, it’s more common than you think. You can have a practice shoot at the venue in your dress (or something similar) and hairstyle and makeup. This way, you know what angles will look good and bad on you on the actual day.

Make sure to play around with angles, poses, and more. Not everyone will look good in every angle and pose, so having options is an excellent idea.

2. Have a Pre-wedding Shoot

It is a nightmare to think about not having any good shots during your wedding. The best way to avoid this is to have a photography shoot before the wedding begins. Pose with your bridesmaids and groomsmen to your heart’s content before the event starts.

However, this may not be feasible as some couples would not want to see each other up until the very moment when the bride walks the aisle. In this case, you can still schedule a specific time for the photo shoot during the event, and allow you some room and time to take some good photos.

3. Make Sure You’re Comfortable

Comfort is a big factor when it comes to how you look in photos. Yes, it will be visible on your face if your heels are killing you. This is why it is very important to ensure that you are comfortable in your outfit and shoes. Additionally, your hair and makeup should be easy to wear, too.

If you aren’t comfortable, you will surely look bad in your photos. But if you are comfortable, you will look genuinely happy and positive at each moment.

4. Hire an Excellent Photographer

This one is self-explanatory. Hire a great wedding photographer who has experience at weddings. A good wedding photographer will be able to capture the moments perfectly, and you will find that you look at yourself in a very different way when you look at your wedding photos in the future.

5. Be Yourself and Have Fun

Last but not the least, always remember to have fun, laugh, and enjoy your wedding. Being yourself will make you look natural and more comfortable in front of the camera. If you stress too much about the photos and every other detail during your wedding, it will definitely show up in the photos.

Instead, just enjoy every moment. You will be glad that you had fun at your wedding instead of being overworked about photos that would not dictate whether your wedding was a success or not.

Conclusion

It is okay if you can’t seem to look good in your wedding photos. What is more important is that you have a good wedding and celebrate with the people whom you love. At the end of the day, you will be the one going through the photos, and it should mean something to you and what you want to remember on the day. So make sure to keep having fun, and we wish that you have a great wedding!

Top 7 Trending Ideas to Try for the Best Wedding Video
June 8, 2022

Everyone’s dreaming about the picture-perfect wedding, but how can you bring it to fruition? One way to remember this special moment forever is to have an amazing video. Through this video, you can rekindle sweet and loving moments whenever you need to.

If you are unsure about how to make the best wedding video, here are some of the best ideas you should try.

1. Wedding Documentary

A video documentary is a wedding video in which you have a lot of footage from different cameras and from different angles. The newlywed couple and their families can be interviewed to get their comments and share stories about the newly married couple. It is also possible to use drones and other video equipment to get different shots of the wedding.

2. Wedding Video Trailer

You can also ask your videographer to create a wedding video trailer highlighting the most important parts of the wedding. This can be made into a separate video or be used as the beginning of the wedding video.

3. Love Story Interview

Some couples want to get a wedding video that tells their love story. Through this style of wedding video, footage from the first date, the first kiss, and other special moments from the past to the present can be used.

4. Stop Motion Save the Date Video

A different idea for the wedding video is to make a stop-motion video. This is an animation video that uses the picture of the bride and the groom to create an interesting story. This can be done by using the photos of the bride and the groom and then put them together to create a sequence.

5. Reverse Wedding Video

This is another thing you can try to make the best wedding video. In this video, instead of showing the couple, the wedding party watching the wedding video will be shown. In this video, the bride and the groom can share their reactions to the events of the wedding.

6. Cinematic Wedding Video

Why not try a video that looks like a movie? Videographers can choose and set the scene to make it more cinematic. They can use the footage from the different locations, and they can also create the scene.

7. Immersive Video

The best wedding video is the video that makes you feel like you are in the wedding. The best wedding video is the video where you can feel all the emotions of the couple getting married. This type of video creates the magic of the wedding.

Final Thoughts

No matter which of these wedding video ideas you want to try, make sure you make it with the best video production team. They will be able to bring the best wedding video to life and help you make the video that you always wanted.

Why the Golden Hour is a Must for the Perfect Outdoor Wedding Photos
June 2, 2022

When it comes to making the most of the great outdoors for wedding photography, nothing beats the glow the golden hour brings. During the golden hour, the light is soft, warm, and even. It’s great for outdoor photography, especially when you’re doing a photoshoot in a beautifully scenic location. The sunlight during that time is just amazing, and it can be captured wonderfully by your photographer.

When the sun is setting, you can use that warm and golden light to create dramatic silhouettes of your subjects, as well as a natural glow on them. It’s a great way to create an impression of something magical happening, like the celestial beings putting in their presence. The golden hour can truly set the mood for an otherworldly experience.

Chasing the Golden Hour: the Challenges and Benefits

Although the golden hour is all about the positive side of things, it can also be a challenge. The challenge lies in the difficulty of getting your photographer to a specific location on time because that’s what you have to do.

Even though it’s only possible to get the best shots during the golden hour, that time is also the most unpredictable. That’s why you have to plan your big wedding photography at the golden hour well in advance.

How to Catch the Golden Hour with Your Wedding Photographer

Tip #1: Schedule Your Outdoor Wedding Photography in Advance

This may seem like a really obvious tip, but it needs to be said. It’s essential that you plan your wedding photography in advance and pick a wedding photographer who knows the best times to shoot at a specific location.

Sunrise and sunset times change with the seasons, so your photographer will have to adjust accordingly. Even within the same season, the sunrise and sunset times can differ throughout the month. Your photographer will have to know when the best time to shoot at a particular location is.

Tip #2: Always Coordinate with Your Wedding Photographer

Once you have scheduled the exact time for your wedding photography, you need to coordinate with your photographer. As your photographer, they will probably have to scout the location ahead of time so they can choose the perfect spot to shoot.

When they have chosen a spot, they need to coordinate with you to make sure there will be no obstacles on the way. For example, if you’re going to be taking photos at a beach, your photographer will need to make sure there’s no high tide, or else you’ll end up in the water at just the wrong time.

Tip #3: Prepare for Delays

The golden hour can be unpredictable, especially if you’re shooting during the spring or autumn. In those seasons, the sunrise or sunset times can vary by an hour or two even on the same day of the week.

If you’re trying to catch the golden hour at a specific location, you should always expect delays. The sun won’t move exactly as you think it will, and that can throw off your schedule by a lot. But then again, it’s also part of the appeal of the golden hour.

It’s a little risky, but it’s definitely worth it if you can manage to set up everything right.

The Bottom Line: The Beauty of the Golden Hour

Of all the hours of the day, the golden hour is the one that can make your wedding photos feel like they’re straight out of a fairy tale. It’s the time the light is warm and soft, the best time for outdoor photography.

8 Wedding Photography Tips for Shy Brides and Grooms
May 26, 2022

Weddings are filled with happiness and overwhelming emotions, and it’s normal that you’d want to document the entire event. It’s a celebration of love, and you’ll surely appreciate being able to look back on this moment years into the future.

However, if you are allergic to cameras, it might be stressful to imagine photographers and videographers trailing behind you for the entire day. Here are some wedding photo tips for even the shyest of couples.

1. Schedule an Engagement Session to Get Used to It

If you’re a shy bride and you feel extremely uncomfortable being in front of the camera, an engagement shoot is a perfect opportunity to get used to it. The photos they took of you will serve as a great prelude to the wedding photography, and you’ll be able to see the difference in your relaxed and tense appearances in the photos.

2. Start with Your Back to the Camera

If you want to ease into wedding photography, try turning your back to the camera and start posing from there. You can gradually get used to being in front of the camera this way.

3. Practice Posing and Gestures Beforehand

If you are shy and feel uncomfortable being in front of the camera and the photographer, ask the wedding photographer to take some photos of you practicing poses and gestures beforehand and ask him or her to capture the candid moments on the actual day.

4. Have a Little Liquid Courage

You’ve heard it before and you’ll hear it again. If you are feeling shy and uncomfortable, it’s completely normal if you’ll want to have a glass of wine during the ceremony. However, if you are too intoxicated, your photos will look unappealing. Remember to know your limitations as well.

5. Focus on Your Partner and Ignore the Camera

When taking photos of the bride and groom, the photographer will often position himself or herself directly in front of the couple. If you want to look like you are having the time of your life in the photos, it’s a good idea to focus on your partner instead of the camera.

6. Laugh with Your Partner until the Laughter Becomes Real

Everyone loves a good laugh. If you want to look like you had a blast during your wedding photography session, it’s a good idea to look like you are genuinely laughing with your partner. Those candid moments of laughter can be beautifully captured in the photos.

7. Relax and Enjoy the Day

On your wedding day, it’s normal to be nervous and preoccupied. If you’re a shy bride or groom, it’s best to relax and enjoy your special day while your photographer captures the moments throughout the day.

8. Hire a Photographer You Can Trust

You want to look your best and feel a sense of comfort during weddings. If you are a shy bride, you need a photographer you can trust. The photographer should be unobtrusive and make you feel like you are the star of your own wedding.

Final Thoughts

One of the most important days in your life deserves to be documented perfectly. It’s normal to feel nervous and even shy when getting your photos taken, but the trick is to fake it until you make it.

Your Guide to a Perfect Wedding Photoshoot in the Rain
May 4, 2022

No matter what kind of weather graces your big day, your wedding photos can still look amazing. Here are our top tips for taking great photos before, during and after the rainy weather hits. Keep reading!

Use Waterproof Makeup

Having your perfect wedding makeup done on your big day will give you a glowing, radiant complexion throughout the whole day. However, it will be ruined by the rain. Even with natural, airy makeup, you can see the damage caused by rain too. You don’t have to worry about that anymore because waterproof makeup is here!

What is waterproof makeup? It is just like any other makeup, except you can use it during the rainy weather, and it will dry quickly. It’s a great alternative to having your makeup done, allowing you to have the same look for the whole day.

Use Hair Spray to Keep Those Curls

Your hair looks amazing when your hairstylist curls your locks. However, it won’t look amazing once the rain starts. You don’t need to worry about that anymore because you can use hair spray to keep your curls in place. Just make sure to use a high-quality hair spray because cheap ones just won’t do the job.

Hair spray can be applied to the hair like a lotion. You use your fingers to rub it in like you do with your favourite hair moisturizer. Apply it to your hair before the ceremony, and you’re all set for a wedding in the rain. You’ll look as good as you did at the start of the day.

Use Umbrellas to Stay Dry

Umbrellas are essential during a wedding in the rain. You just can’t risk not having one with you because you don’t want to ruin your dress or your hairstyle. You can’t find a better umbrella than the one made from a piece of beautiful fabric, like lace or tulle.

Umbrellas are also a great way to keep your photographer dry, and your photographer will have a better time shooting you in the rain. Just make sure to bring an umbrella that matches your wedding theme and style.

Bring a Rain Plan

In case of a rainy wedding, you should make a rain plan. This will help you deal with everything for your wedding day. First, make sure to check with your venue if they have a backup plan in case of rain. When you have an indoor wedding, this is pretty easy.

Bring an extra pair of shoes if you’re wearing a special pair. You might get them wet and ruin your shoes. In addition, don’t forget to bring an extra umbrella if you need more than one for every wedding party member.

Photograph the Rain Instead of Running Away

Shooting in the rain is fun! If you’re photographing in a very dark area, this can give you some spooky shots that you can use in your wedding album or save as a keepsake.

You can shoot with raindrops on your lens so it looks like rain is hitting you. It’s a great way to add some fun to your photos. You can also photograph your wedding party or your wedding dress wet because that’s a great way to show it is getting rained on.

Stay in Your Wedding Dress

Whether it’s a lovely wedding dress or a white gown, remember that it will be ruined if you walk around in it during a wedding in the rain. Your dress will be wet, and the rain will leave marks on it. Don’t be afraid to get your dress wet. If you do, you can always have it dry cleaned. A few marks are not a big deal compared to walking around in a wet dress.

Don’t Panic

Your wedding photos are more important than your clothing and hair. Don’t let your big day get ruined by rain. It’s okay to get wet; just remember to stay in your dress. And, make sure to have fun!

Conclusion

A wedding in the rain can be an enjoyable and exciting experience. Just make sure to follow our tips and make a rain plan so you can still have a fantastic day in the rain.

5 Essential Things to Tell Your Wedding Photographer
April 14, 2022

Photography is an important aspect of your wedding day. Don’t you think so? After all, the photographs that capture the moments when you and your spouse say “I do,” share your first kiss, or dance for the first time as husband and wife will be the most concrete reminders of that memorable day. This is why you must explain your wedding photography requirements to your wedding photographer. And here are some of the most important things you should tell them:

1. Inform Them of the Wedding Timeline

Even though many couples ignore this step, developing a timetable – even if it is a rough one – is critical in ensuring that everything, including photography, runs well. Give your wedding photographer an idea of when the ceremony and other important festivities should begin, as well as when you want the wedding photographs done. Most essential, have some buffer time available so that you are not forced to forfeit shoot time if things go wrong.

2. Inform Them of Any Specific Moments You Want to Be Captured

For instance, if you want your photographer to capture only the wedding ceremony and not the reception, let them know. If you’re not interested in getting photos of you and your partner after the wedding as a “newlywed couple,” let them know as well.

3. Tell Them If You Have a Theme or a Particular Style in Mind

Perhaps you’re having a rustic wedding, and you would like to see photos with a vintage vibe. Or maybe you’d like your wedding photos to have a romantic look or simply be a lot of fun. Whatever the case may be, tell your wedding photographer all of this upfront so that they can make use of their talents to make your wedding photography even better.

4. Are There Any Lighting Situations to Be Aware Of

Inform your photographer of any unique lighting scenarios that may arise during your wedding. Is there going to be a DJ and a dark dancing floor? Inform them. Maybe your wedding will be held in a room with little to no natural light. Your wedding photographer should be informed of these details ahead of time so that they can arrange the necessary equipment. Wedding photographers should be prepared to deal with any lighting condition, but being able to plan ahead of time is a tremendous benefit.

5. Talk about Your Expectations with Regards to the Editing Process

Let your wedding photographer know if you would like to have creative control over the editing process. Do you have a specific look in mind? Or are you going to give them a free hand? Once you agree on your expectations, make sure you both sign a contract and put everything down in writing. That way, there will be no surprises or disappointments when you receive the final photos.

Conclusion

As you can see, there is a lot to consider when choosing a wedding photographer. But if you remember to keep it simple and do your homework, you should be able to find a wedding photographer who captures your vision – photos you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

We hope you enjoyed our article about choosing a wedding photographer! If you know of any other essential things that you should communicate to your wedding photographer, feel free to share them in the comments.

When it comes to documenting your big day, it’s important to work with someone you can trust and capture all the moments—big or small. While you can talk to a family member or friend to do this for you, it’s much better to have professionals help you instead.

Many people find it difficult to find the best wedding photographer for their wedding. This is because a long list of qualified individuals could make you feel overwhelmed. But having a checklist of what you want and the traits they should have can help you narrow down an otherwise long and endless list.

So, with that being said, our team has created a guide to help you choose the best wedding photographer. By the end of this article, you’ll get to find the best one for your big day!

What to Consider When Choosing a Wedding Photographer

Values

Every person will have their own set of values, but you must work with a photographer with the same ideals.

Some priorities for you may be religion and culture, family, etc. Depending on how important these are for you, you must make sure that working with someone with the same values is important because this will shape the style of the photographs and the editing process.

Trust

Since you’ll be working with your photographer for long periods, it’s crucial that you can trust them. Be sure to ask for references and recommendations so that you can have a better idea if they’re trustworthy or not.

Communicating with them before the event is also necessary for you to feel their personality, work ethic, and level of customer service.

Perhaps one of the most important things you need to consider before hiring a photographer is their portfolio. This is because you want to ensure that their aesthetic fits you and your partner’s personality.

You can look at other weddings they shot and see if their style you appreciate. You want to look at the angles of the photos, the frames and the backgrounds, the post-processing, and the way they capture the moments throughout the event.

Budget

Getting married can be extremely expensive, but what can help you achieve your dream wedding is by choosing a photographer that fits your budget.

A good thing you can do is have a set budget and see if any photographers can work within that range. Keep in mind that some charge per hour, while others charge per photo.

Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Best Wedding Photographer

Our Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Best Wedding Photographer
February 23, 2022

Portfolio

Perhaps one of the most important things you need to consider before hiring a photographer is their portfolio. This is because you want to ensure that their aesthetic fits you and your partner’s personality.

You can look at other weddings they shot and see if their style you appreciate. You want to look at the angles of the photos, the frames and the backgrounds, the post-processing, and the way they capture the moments throughout the event.

Fall Edmonton Wedding 2021

A big thank you to Jeff & Valentina for letting me capture their beautiful wedding day. It might not have been the ideal destination wedding they had planned in Portugal, but it will definitely be a day they will remember forever.

When I met with my couple we connected from the very first sip of coffee. We chatted and talked about their details and what I can do to make their day as memorable as possible. Valentina was over the moon in seeing how dedicated I was to being part of their wedding day!

My day started with getting ready with Valentina at DoubleTree by Hilton. Her family flew in from Venezuela and they were so friendly and welcoming! They even treated me to some cheesy traditional appetizers that were to die for. I really love my cheese.

While I was photographing the details (flowers, jewelry) I noticed that Jeff wrote his soon to be wife a heartfelt message on the bottom of her shoes. It was the first time I have experienced that at a wedding and it has so heartwarming!

Connecting with Jeff & his Groomsmen

Over at Jeff’s place we did not have as much time but we made every second count. The highlight of the groom prep was Jeff having to youtube how to tie a bow tie! After having a drink with Jeff and his groomsmen, we snapped a couple of more funky photos and off to church we went for the ceremony.

Family Photos & Couples Portraits

After the ceremony, we took off to Edmonton’s Government House for my favorite part of the day; couples portraits. Jeff warned me when we first met that is “doesn’t do pictures” but look at how natural these two were in front of the camera.

The right person can make every moment a special one. My job is just to capture it in the best light possible. Even the groomsmen participated in a couple of goofy portraits!

Reception

Back at the hotel, friends and family gather to welcome and celebrate with Mr. and Mrs. Santos! From the first dance to cake cutting, we finished the night off with a dance party and what they call in the Venezuelan community, “La Hora Loca” or Crazy Hour!

One last time, thank you Jeff & Valentina for having me as part of your beautiful day. Best wishes to the two of you!

Nick & Alycia - Victoria Beach Wedding
November 29, 2021

My very first wedding in Victoria, British Columbia just so happened to be my friend’s wedding. Congratulations to Nick & Alycia Twigg on your beautiful Victoria Beach Wedding!

We had a full weekend of celebrations and it started with a huge bbq in Victoria followed by a rooftop smores night before the big day. It was a perfect way for the families to interract and reconnect since they have not seen each other in quite some time.

A beautiful and crisp August morning set stage for the Twigg Wedding in Victoria BC. My morning started with Alycia, her bridesmaids and flower girl getting ready at Parkside Hotel.

The ladies were having a wonderful time sipping on mimosa and having a light breakfast.

This is also gave me a chance to capture the beautiful details and florals provided by Seaberry Garden.

Surprisingly enough, Nick and his boys were very calm all morning getting ready. Of course our groom had some wedding day jitters but nothing a facemask and a glass of scotch wouldn’t fix.

Wedding Ceremony at Willows Beach, Victoria, British Columbia

Our beautiful beach ceremony  at Willows beach provided beautiful scenery for all the tears of happiness we were about to witness. Friends and family worked together to set up the arch, organize the chairs and create a picturesque environment for the two lovebirds to tie the knot! Also how often do you get the change to capture wedding portraits at a beach? We also took off with the wedding party to Cattle Point to continue capuring some fabulous photographs.

Wedding Reception at Parkside Hotel and Spa, Victoria

The bride and groom, along with the wedding party are headed back to the hotel for the reception. We wrapped up our beach wedding portraits sooner than anticipated so we had time to grab a couple more shots nearby the hotel.

On the hotel rooftop, our newlyweds had their first meal, first dance, and first tears listening to the speeches of everyone. As the night went on, the ocean breeze began creaping in slowly putting in end to our day.

However our couple was not done with photos quite yet. The following day we hopped in the car for another photo session. We took off to Port Renfrew for some more photos and even some more “more intimate” couples photos which shall remain offline.

Congratulations to Nick & Alycia on your beautiful day. I wish you nothing but a lifetime of love and happiness! Hope these photographs will be memories you can cherish forever!
